Final PTSA Meeting of the Year

Greetings BRCMS Families from PTSA!

This has been an extraordinary school year. Our children and families have been through a hurricane, tragedy in our backyard, and countless other challenges that have been stressful to say the least. Throughout it all, though, the staff and parents of BRCMS have stepped up to take action and get more involved to prioritize our kids' daily safety and positive learning environment.

Thursday, May 11th is our final PTSA meeting of the year. Please plan to join us on Thursday after the SAC meeting where we will be wrapping up the year and holding our annual board elections. We'd love for your to be a part of our team!

PTSA organizes and sponsors the following fun events:

  • Daily Agendas provided at the beginning of the year
  • Backpacks w/ supplies for students in need
  • Boca Bash (student only event at the school with pizza, DJ, bounce houses, and more)
  • Teacher Appreciation Week
  • School Auction (this year was FANTASTIC! can't wait to see what we do next year)
  • 8th Grade Dance
  • Spirit Shirt sales
  • "Your new idea HERE"

All positions on the board are up for election. If you are interested in volunteering for a board position or a chair of any of the events listed above or have questions regarding how much time is involved and/or level of commitment, please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. School Security Update Donations

Due to the recent tragedy at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High school, our PTSA would like to create a special project to fund a more effective security system to help better protect our students and staff members. We feel that a good way to help achieve this goal would be to request for donations from our school’s parents. We would like to create a method to allow parents the ability to offer donations of funds to be applied directly to “Keeping our School Safe” fund here at BRCMS.

After our meeting with the Cobra Parent Safety Coalition this past Monday, it was determined that the Front office school access “buzz-in” and camera system originally installed in 2007 is antiquated and needs to be replaced with the most updated equipment.  Mr. Slack met with School Police, The Manager of Security Systems for the District, Tom Copen, and the District Approved Vendor and had them evaluate the present system and put together a proposal to upgrade and replace it with the latest technology. The new system would allow our front office personnel to obtain a clear visual picture of the individual(s) visiting our school’s campus prior to providing the visitor with access into the building. Once the visitor has entered the building lobby, a BRCMS staff member can then provide them with access to the front office. This new dual-checkpoint entry system will provide our students and staff members with a stronger method of security regarding visitors entering our school campus. The cost of this update is $17,174.00 based on the evaluation report, and there are no funds available at this time.

The PTSA is reaching out to our parents to help with getting this special project off the ground and fund the proper equipment to safeguard our children.

All donations will be anonymous, please click the PayPal button below if you would like to help fund this special project.
